Overview

Alpine Park is a visionary community in Calgary's West End, designed around the principles of new urbanism. The development emphasizes walkability, social connection, and a "people-first" lifestyle. My role in this project was to bring that vision to life online through the design and development of a website that didn't just inform, but also immersed visitors in the Alpine Park experience.

Challenge

The key challenge was to translate the spirit of Alpine Park into a digital format. The website needed to balance functionality with storytelling — it had to provide practical details about lots, amenities, and builder partners, while also communicating the community's unique ethos in an engaging way.

Solution

I developed a website experience that guided users through Alpine Park's story using scroll-triggered interactions and smooth transitional animations. These animations were intentionally subtle, helping content flow naturally while reinforcing the idea of movement and connection that underpins the community itself.

The homepage introduced users to "a day in the life" of an Alpine Park resident, while interior pages gave visitors the ability to explore at their own pace. From large lifestyle photography to layered content modules, every element was designed to invite exploration and engagement without overwhelming the user.

Results

The website became a central storytelling tool for the community launch and played a key role in marketing success. Its award-winning design was recognized at the 2022 Calgary BILD Awards for Best Website, alongside other campaign honors. Beyond awards, the site helped drive strong early sales — with more than half of the first-phase lots selling within six months.

Takeaway

This project highlighted the power of blending thoughtful design, smooth interactions, and narrative-driven development. The transitional animations weren't just visual polish; they were a functional storytelling device that helped Alpine Park's vision come to life online.
